What is an aluminium oxide ceramic substrate?

Aluminium oxide ceramic substrates

Alumina ceramic substrate is a kind of ceramic substrate, due to good thermal conductivity, insulation and voltage resistance, in recent years the development is very rapid, in many industries play an important role, very popular. Today we will talk about what is alumina ceramic substrate and its classification.

Alumina ceramic substrate core composition is aluminium oxide ceramic as the main body of ceramic materials, in the alumina ceramic substrate better conductivity, mechanical strength and high temperature resistance. In the superior performance of alumina ceramic substrate, the application of modern society is more and more extensive, and its meet the needs of daily use and special industry fields.

Alumina ceramics are divided into two types: ordinary type and pure high type, mainly talking about ordinary alumina ceramic substrate.

Common alumina ceramic substrate can be divided into 99 porcelain, 95 porcelain, 90 porcelain, 85 porcelain and other varieties according to the different AI2O3 content, sometimes AI203 content in 80% or 75% can also be classified as common alumina ceramic series. 99 porcelain alumina materials used in the production of high-temperature clamp pot, refractory furnace tube and special wear-resistant materials, such as ceramic bearings, ceramic seals and water valves, etc. 95 porcelain alumina is mainly used as corrosion-resistant, wear-resistant parts. 85 porcelain is often doped with part of the talc, improving the electrical properties and mechanical strength, can be used with molybdenum, niobium, tantalum, and other metal seals, and some of them are used as an electric vacuum device devices.

Alumina ceramic substrate thermal conductivity is very high, generally in the 30W ~ 50W range, the thinner the thickness of the plate thermal conductivity is better, the thicker the plate is relatively low thermal conductivity. But the overall thermal conductivity is 100 times or more than ordinary PCB.

Alumina ceramic substrate expansion coefficient is ceramic material belongs to inorganic materials, hardness, pressure resistance, low expansion coefficient, generally not easy to deform.
